Technical Diversity Handbook

from notes provided by

The Shatterclaw Tactical Workshop

Each Imperial ship tends to be just like her captain - an individual, modified and updated far beyond her initial specifications in accordance with the Captain's plans and wishes. ISS GHIDORAH is no exception...

BlackStar Fighter

Class : Striker class Prototype.

Production Base : Utopia Planitia Fleet yards, Mars

Type : Fast Attack and Assault Fighter

Accommodation : one pilot

Power Plant : Two 1200 millicochrane impulse drive engines, eight DeFl 800 hot gas RCS thrusters; two 5,000 millcochrane warp engines.

Dimensions : Length 3.8m, Beam 2.4m, Height 1m

Mass : 0.76 metric tonnes

Performance : Warp 5 for 8 hours

Shields : Four Type V shield generators.

Armament : 6 Type VI phaser emitters, two photon torpedo launchers. 12 micro photon torpedoes, six each launcher, mounted next to cockpit. One deflector shield emitter weapon*, two shots per flight, forward firing arc only.

* Experimental. This weapon has the output of a deflector shield in a smaller size and a tighter compressed beam. It burns out fast, and must be replaced after two shots. This problem would probably have been led to the weapon being scrapped, save for its staggering destructive ability.

BlackStar Fighter : A state of the art fighter craft that satisfiers the need for fast attack tactical fighters. The BlackStar is the size of a shuttle pod, yet wields a surprising amount of fire power and shielding. The BlackStar can maintain warp five for eight hours and has life support for another ten. It can out run most ships at impulse and outmanoeuvre them in the process.

The one drawback to the BlackStar is the cockpit is smaller than that of any other shuttlecraft, making it hard for some of the larger races to fit in it. Most humans, elves and smaller races can handle the cramped space.

ASPs

Advance Strike Pods

Class : prototype Serpatine shuttlepods.

Production Base : Io Fleet yards, Jupiter

Accommodation : one pilot.

Power Plant : Two 12OO millcochrane warp drive engines, six DeFl 800 hot gas RCS thrusters, four DeFl 660 hot gas RCS thrusters.

Dimensions : Length 3m, Beam 2.2 m, Height .75 m

Mass : 0.41 Metric tonnes

Performance : Can reach speeds near Warp 1, but not for longer than five minutes and not without burning out its impulse engines and boosters.

Shields : Two Type V shield generators. One Cammilon sensor jamming system.

Armament : Two photon micro-torpedo launchers, four torpedoes per launcher; three type II phaser cannons * - one top, two at the sides; one DSW, front firing arc.*

* Advanced weapons systems, developed from experimental systems employed on BlackStar ships. See further details below.

ASP Fighter Pod : Small, sleek and deadly, the ASPs are meant to be an advanced warning to starships that are stationed in a sector or at a planet of any amount of time. The ASPs are sent out to search out unauthorised vessels - when such are found, the ASPs warn the starship, then attack. Due to their small size, many ships will not pick up the ASPs, and with the addition of the Cammilon jamming system, which masks the ASP from enemy sensors, this small attack craft becomes a deadly predator.

The ASP uses the latest weapon systems, including the standardised deflector shield emitter weapon, or DSW. The ASP is the smallest craft to carry the DSW to date. Also included in it armaments are the new Type 2 phaser cannons. The redesigned cannon delivers a higher power beam to a more focussed site, enabling the ASP to cause even more damage. An ASP can dismantle shuttle pods twice its size in two minutes flat.

Able to sneak past regular shields, the ASP can unleash its eight photon micro-torpedoes to devastating effect, and almost always return to base quite unharmed. ASPs have destroyed A Romulan War-Bird with a "Swarm Attack", where a wing of ASPs dove past the War-Bird's shields and then picked apart the ship from close range.

The Cochrane Impulse Booster allows the ASP to achieve near-warp speeds, making the ASP the fastest non-warp-drive ship.

Among the pilots that have flown the ASP it is commonly known as the "Advance Surprise Pod", for near always the Asp has the first strike.

Blackwolf Bomber Shuttle

Class : Omni Atmospheric Bomber Craft

Production Base : Io Fleet yards, Jupiter

Accommodations : Pilot, co-pilot, bomb-aimer.

Power Plant : Two 24OO millcochrane warp drive engines, eight DeFl 800 hot gas RCS thrusters, six DeFl 660 hot gas RCS thrusters.

Dimensions : Length 6.m Beam 4.2 m Height 4 1/2 m Mass 5.1 Metric tonnes

Performance : Impulse for 168,OOO Milsecs, can reach warp 8,

Shields : Four type VI shield generators.

Armaments : Three photon torpedo launchers, 27 photon torpedoes, nine each launcher . Pre-flight conversion to micro torpedoes would yield 54 torpedoes; four type 1 Phaser Cannons two on each sides of the Shuttle; one D.S.W (front firing arc, seven shots before recharging and replacement); six Phaser Banks - two on the side of the cockpit, two on the top of cockpit and two on the rear stabiliser wings.

Blackwolf Bomber-shuttle : Starfleet's first true bomber-shuttle. The Blackwolf was designed before the innovation bought on by Dr. Karl Jarod Cinocard III.

The Blackwolf is a Heavy Bomber. It is armed for sheer force attacks where brute strength mean more then tactics. The Blackwolf's three photon torpedo tubes can be armed with either full size or micro photon torpedoes. Standard Configuration will have all three armed with the same type of torpedoes. Many flight officers will have the side torpedoes armed with full size torpedoes while the rear will have Micros.

The Blackwolf boasts two deflector dishes, the main one is under the nose of the ship, while a smaller one is located above. The deflector shield weapon is fired from the bottom dish, and can fire up to seven times before recharging and replacement of the dish. The DSW in this model has improved shielding around it to prevent hazards to the crew.

The Blackwolf is entered from the top-opening canopy unlike most standard shuttles. This vessel also has an crew compartment escape pod. The Pod is made up of the front crew compartment which ejects from the Shuttle. It has two RCS Jet thrusters and can support life for three hours after escape from the shuttle. The escape system is prone to damage in battle.

While the Blackwolf serves the Empire's need for a bomber, it lacks flexibility. It has one mission and one mission only - to destroy the Empire's enemies. It does so with brute force and speed, though it turns like a freight-ship.

Research and Development is working on a Type II Blackwolf, which will include a top firing DSW, enhanced phaser canons, two micro-torpedo launchers and improved handling.

Brahma Strike Bomber

Class : Omni Atmospheric Bomber Craft

Production Base : Mar Utopia, Mars

Accommodations : one pilot, one co-pilot, one bomb-aimer, two support technicians

Power Plant : Two 26OO millcochrane warp drive engines, ten DeFl 800 hot gas RCS thrusters, six DeFl 660 hot gas RCS thrusters.

Dimensions : Length 6.m; Beam 4.2 m; Height 5.5 m; Mass 5.7 Metric tonnes

Performance : Impulse for 174,OOO Milsecs, can reach warp 9.1,

Shields : Four Type VI shield generators.

Armaments : Three photon torpedo launchers, (27 photon torpedoes, 9 each launcher);.10 quantum torpedoes (5 each side launcher); two photon micro-torpedo launchers, located on each "wing" (36 micro-torpedoes, 18 each launcher).

Two Type III phaser cannons (one on each side of the shuttle, under the "wings"); two pulse phaser cannons (one on each wing.) : This weapon is meant to be used on surface of planets. The phaser will build up a charge, then fire, as it fires a second build up is fired - the result is a more powerful pulse meant to cause more damage to a confined or shielded target. It was not intended for space combat, yet pilots use them in space as well.

One D.S.W, front firing arc.(eight shots before recharging and or replacement of the dish is required)

14 Phaser Banks (two on the side of the cockpit, two on the top of cockpit, two on lower side of the ship, two on the nacelle stabilisers, six "wrap-around" phaser banks on the "wings" (four facing forward, two facing aft).

Two tracker launchers (12 tracker probes) : Trackers are small probes that tag a vessel. When launched they will imbed themselves in the target vessel and broadcast a signal to all shuttles. They have a built-in "friend-or-foe" code - if they latch onto an Empire shuttle they will not brodcast the "seeker order".

Four mine launcers (two on each side of the underside of the shuttle) : The Brahma is the first attack shuttle to have mine launchers for both space and land. The payload of mines varies for each mine.

Brahma Strike Bomber : The Next Generation In Shuttle Bombers. The Brahma is a multi-weapon platform that delivers heavy payloads of ordinance to any one target. Although planetary bombing has been left to starships, there is a growing need to have mobile platform to perform hit and run strikes. The Brahma can fulfill this need, yet it can also stand up to a fight with fighters and even small starships.

The Brahma has two top-opening hatches to the ships crew compartment.

All other information on the Brahma is classified.
