STAR TREK : The Empire have not encountered Q or the Borg. The Empire have never come close to peace with the Cardassians, and so there are no Maquis - and rebels in general that the Empire will admit to. A side-effect of this is that the I.S.S. Voyager is still in Empire space, with Katherine Janeway commanding, with her second officer Commander Tuvok.
Captain Benjamin Sisko is commanding I.S.S. Defiant, the first warship of the Defiant Class, developed following the long Cardassian wars. Commander Jadzia Dax is second-in-command.
The Cardassian space-station Terok Nor is now under Bajoran jurisdiction, with Intendant Kira Nerys in command. The Empire aided the Bajorans in driving off the Cardassian invaders, and Bajor now has a number of second-hand Cardassian war-ships at their disposal. Bajor is divided about its relationship with the Empire with the pro-Empire military constantly at odds with senior religious figures.
The Dominion are still on the other side of the Bajoran worm-hole, oblivious to the connection between their realm and the Alpha Quadrant. On the Alpha Quadrant side, the disappearance of trading ships near Bajor has been blamed on Cardassian raiders or Ferengi pirates.
The main adversaries for the Empire are the Romulans, with the Cardassians coming a close second. Few other races would risk enraging the Empire. The Klingons have crossed swords with the Empire, and have learned from the experience, leading to something approaching peace between the two powers.
ELFQUEST : The Palace of The High Ones has not been seen for centuries, and many elves have joined the Imperial Starfleet purely to find it again, and maybe meet other High Ones, other travellers who did not fall foul of the World of Two Moons.
With elves in control of Abode, the Skyward (from JINK and THE REBELS) was never formed. The Neverending are yet to show their faces, the activities of the Empire causing them to move with caution. These aliens, with their organic-based technology, could prove to be a threat to the Empire. As for Jink herself, there has been talk of an elven rebel, trying to encourage opposition to the Empire...
The whereabouts and fates of many "mainstream" elven personalities are lost in the chaos of recent history. It is not even certain that any of them are still alive, but many surely departed from Abode with the Palace. There are rumours, amongst the ever-dwindling troll population, that the "master-smith" is taking an interest in the wonders of the Empire.
Most of the known elven tribes have survived to the present day in one form or another. Most elves are pure-blood, descended from the population of Sorrow's End and similar communities, dwelling in those desolate places few humans dare to travel. There are still Wolfriders, and plenty of Go-Backs, who now see a way to "go back" to the Palace yet again. Trolls did not stop them before, and the Romulans and Cardassians will not be allowed to succeed either.
