Darkhawk is a human-like being of great psionic power, possessing the ability to teleport at will, telekinetically manipulate objects down to the molecular level and effortlessly read the thoughts and influence the perceptions of beings with considerable psionic defences. She has described herself as "a unique life-form, a one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-repeated living wonder of the universe" (source unrevealed), and is apparently ruler of an extradimensional kingdom known as "Dominion", which she has declared to be her own creation.

Darkhawk was first encountered whilst masquerading as an Ensign in the Imperial Starfleet, and spent a short period undetected as part of the crew of ISS Ghidorah before boredom caused her to reveal herself. Confronted by the crew, Darkhawk escaped capture, teleporting herself to a concealed starship which defied all attempts at pursuit and intercept.
